Relational Trauma Therapist In Oregon + Louisiana

You’ve mastered the mask. Now let’s free the real you.

Brooke Terry, Ms, PLPC, Professional Counselor Associate

You're here because you’re tired of going at this alone.

The one that does it all by themselves out of a need to survive. Why would you ask people for help or to see your pain? That’s too vulnerable, so you'd rather carry it alone. You’re falling apart but haven’t validated yourself yet to “need” support. I see you because I was you. I learned (the hard way) that you don’t have to be falling apart to need support.

Therapy isn’t just for breakdowns; it’s also for the relief you receive from holding space for yourself.
You can look “fine” on the outside and still feel wrecked on the inside.
You don’t have to wait until you crash. You just have to be curious about something more.

Clients describe me as warm, funny, relatable, and direct, with a willingness to ask tough questions with grace while holding them accountable. I’m driven by the belief that we often forget about our humanity, which leads us to give up on ourselves too soon. We let things consume us and subscribe to a belief that nothing can change. When, in reality, we are allowed to start over as many times as we need to on our life journey. We are forever a work in progress.

You’re not alone here

How I work

At the core of my approach to therapy is a belief that lasting change happens in a space where you feel safe enough to show up as your full self: no masks, no judgment, just real connection.

You don’t need a roadmap to walk in here. If anything, I prefer you to leave your perfectionism at the door. You can arrive tired, guarded, skeptical, or just flat-out confused. Therapy with me isn’t a one-size-fits-all protocol. It bends and shifts around what you need, even if you don’t know what that is yet!

You’re the expert on your life, so we work side by side. A collaborative therapeutic alliance is extremely important to me. Whether we’re digging into a tough memory, leaning into the silence, mapping out a pattern, or riding out a wave of hard emotion, you’ll always know what we’re doing and why it matters. Some sessions are deep dives; others are quiet recalibrations. We go at the speed of trust. We laugh. We cry. There is enough space for all of that here.

HEre’s what I believe about therapy:

Compassion is a form of accountability.

Compassion starts by acknowledging your current experience (think fears, doubts, and the very real barriers you face). When you feel truly seen (even in your messiest moments), you’re more willing to lean into the work rather than retreat. Shame + Blame have no place here.

Therapy isn’t rigid; it moves with you.

I know your life isn’t endless misery. You’ve got deadlines, family memes, flashbacks, an inner critic, what you ate for lunch, and one-liner jokes all jostling for space in your head. That’s exactly how our sessions roll, too. We’ll mix in a well-timed laugh, a mindful pause, a good-old-fashioned rant, and the tears when they’re ready to come.

Therapy isn’t a quick fix; it’s a deep dive.

I believe change comes from being curious about yourself without judgment. Instead of shaming yourself out of emotion, I invite compassionate curiosity around what’s showing up for you. You may be surprised when you take the time to look closer to the roots.

Mensch Therapy was born during my time abroad in 2017. I got to explore historical landmarks and hear about their impact on humanity, which got me thinking… when was the last time I acknowledged my humanity? I was overly worried about chasing “perfection” in life. There was no room for complexities. I was desperate for a space I could sit and reconnect with myself.

Through a lot of falling and failing, I found that space. Before I was a therapist, I was a client. I was “put together” on the outside, but on the inside, I was carrying a weight I couldn’t shake. It wasn’t until I realized that without healing, nothing was going to change. My healing experience inspired me to pursue therapy as a career. Now, as a therapist, I strive to help adults process the complexities that have brought disconnection in their lives. I believe life isn’t just about surviving; it’s about learning to truly live—even when it feels impossible.

In today’s world, it’s easy to forget that at our core, we’re all just human. We’re flawed, messy, and beautifully unique. I created Mensch Therapy as a space where you can show up as your whole, imperfect self and explore without judgment. Here, your humanity is seen and respected. I’m not here to sugarcoat things or slap a band-aid on deep wounds. I’m here to dig in with you, to ask the hard questions, and to help you uncover the strength and clarity that are already inside you. I’ll guide you through the tough stuff with compassion, warmth, and empathy while empowering you to find that within yourself.
